Ken Matthews

Ken Matthews is a private consultant in water, agriculture and public administration issues.

Based in Canberra, Australia, Ken provides high level consultancy services in the areas of water policy and water management, agricultrual policy, science policy as well as in all areas of public administration.

Ken established his consultancy business following a lifetime career with the Australian Government in a range of portfolios including: defence, industry, science and technology; mining, energy and agriculture; native title; transport and regional services; and water policy.

In the course of his career, Ken has been the Secretary (chief executive) of two Australian government departments (agriculture and transport), as well as the chairman and chief executive of a government statutory authority (the National Water Commission).

Ken provides consulting services alone or in collaboration with others. He is available to serve on boards and committees and currently participates in several, including as chair. He offers private mentoring services to senior executives and chief executives in the public sector. He provides strategic advisory services to executives, boards and committees, particularly in relation to public administration and public policy issues.
